Thank you 和谈 for your feedback and kind words.

Gee, why did I call myself "sing" in the first place? I'm tone deaf and can't sing at all.
But an Indian guru once said, "Life is a song - sing it." So in a sense, we all sing.

hi sing, you must have been working really, really hard and it's even more thoughtful of you to post these notes, thank you. but my real question is this: when do you start singing publicly?

Relationship Terms

Sometimes, especially when working on your family history, it's handy to know how to describe your family relationships more exactly. The definitions below should help you out.

Cousin (a.k.a "first cousin"): Your first cousins are the people in your family who have two of the same grandparents as you. In other words, they are the children of your aunts and uncles.

Second Cousin: Your second cousins are the people in your family who have the same great-grandparents as you., but not the same grandparents.

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Cousins: Your third cousins have the same great-great-grandparents, fourth cousins have the same great-great-great-grandparents, and so on.

Removed: When the word "removed" is used to describe a relationship, it indicates that the two people are from different generations. You and your first cousins are in the same generation (two generations younger than your grandparents), so the word "removed" is not used to describe your relationship.

The words "once removed" mean that there is a difference of one generation. For example, your mother's first cousin is your first cousin, once removed. This is because your mother's first cousin is one generation younger than your grandparents and you are two generations younger than your grandparents. This one-generation difference equals "once removed." Twice removed means that there is a two-generation difference. You are two generations younger than a first cousin of your grandmother, so you and your grandmother's first cousin are first cousins, twice removed.

3. Hugh Despenser the Younger, 也称 Hugh le Despenser, 1st Lord Despenser

Anne Hutchinson. “The parallel is that Hutchinson was the heretic who metaphorically seduced the Puritan community, while in Hawthorne's novel Hester Prynne literally seduced the minister of her community.”

“Obama and President Bush are 10th cousins, once removed ”, 现任总统奥巴马同布什是十代以上的远房亲戚,同Hugh Despenser the Younger 大概没有什么关系?

另外,Roger Mortimer 的外孙Maurice de Berkeley 迎娶了Hugh Despenser the Younger 的女儿Elizabeth le Despenser。

zt:

Anne Neville, the queen consort of King Richard III of England, is a direct descendant of Hugh le Despenser the younger. Anne's grandmother, Isabel le Despenser, Countess of Worcester and Warwick, was the granddaughter of Edward le Despencer, 1st Baron le Despencer, who in turn was the grandson of the younger Despenser.

The sixth and last queen consort to Henry VIII, Catherine Parr, also descended from the 1st Baron le Despencer, through his daughter Margaret, who married Robert de Ferrers, 4th Baron Ferrers of Chartley.

The New England Protestant reformer Anne (Marbury) Hutchinson was a descendant of Hugh through his grandson Edward. Through her, many Americans including Franklin D. Roosevelt and George W. Bush, can claim Hugh the younger as an ancestor

2. Roger Mortimer, 1st Earl of March

Roger Mortimer, 1st Earl of March 之孙被封 Roger Mortimer, 2nd Earl of March.

Roger Mortimer, 2nd Earl of March的曾孙女Anne de Mortimer 是英格兰两个国王 Edward IV of England 和 King Richard III 的祖母。

zt:

Sir Edmund Mortimer (1302/1303 – 16 December 1331) was the eldest son of Roger Mortimer, 1st Earl of March and Joan de Geneville, 2nd Baroness Geneville. By his wife Elizabeth de Badlesmere he was the father of Roger Mortimer, 2nd Earl of March. Though Edmund survived his father by one year, he did not inherit his father's lands and titles as they were forfeited to the Crown and his son only reacquired them gradually.

Alison Weir cites Edward III's behaviour towards Edmund as evidence of the young king's sense of justice. In October 1331, Edmund was restored to the family lands at Wigmore as well as to other lordships. He died several months later from a fever, on 16 December 1331, and was survived by his three-year-old son, Roger. Four years later, Elizabeth remarried to William de Bohun, a close companion of Edward III and future Earl of Northampton. Edmund's son Roger was allowed to succeed as the 2nd Earl of March in 1354。

Through his son Sir Edmund Mortimer, he is an ancestor of the last Plantagenet monarchs of England from King Edward IV to Richard III. By Edward IV's daughter, Elizabeth of York, the Earl of March is an ancestor to KingHenry VIII and to all subsequent monarchs of England.
